Yogurt and IBS




My good friend thanks her lucky stars that she is Indian.

She suffers from IBS, but has managed to control the discomfort and pain normally associated by following some advice given by her Indian relatives.

Take a lot of yogurt. This should be home-cultured yogurt, not the commercial ones that you get in the supermarkets. Try and take some yogurt after every meal, as it contains a lot of good bacteria that aids in digestion.

Chew on raw mint leaves if you have sudden spasms or pain. The mint reduces the spasms and brings relief quite quickly.

For those with constipation, drink fresh cow's milk. Milk seems to make stools soft and this makes it easier for those with difficult bowel movement.

Every morning when you wake up, spend three minutes doing some breathing exercises.You can lie on your back. When you inhale, make sure your stomach rises, and when you exhale make sure you flatten your stomach. Do this breathing exercise in rapid succession for three minutes. After that drink a glass of freshly boiled water (drink it after it has cooled down!). This practice makes it easier to pass motion.

Seems like the Indian have some good techniques in dealing with IBS problems!
